Registered Psychotherapist
Kate offers therapy in both French and English to adults and children 12 years and up, in person in Ottawa and online in all of Ontario. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach and implements a person-centered narrative for collaborative strength and ability, helping her client embrace a growing sense of agency.
Kate is compassionate and warm but also grounded and direct. She believes awareness is a key for positive change in individuals within the confines of a safe therapeutic collaboration, while also being aware of the numerous systematic factors affecting her clients.
She specializes specifically in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and psychedelic integration therapy, while also treating racial trauma, general stress and anxiety, and offering bereavement and crisis counseling.
Kate is passionate about plant medicine and psychedelic therapy, and has served as a guardian and practitioner in the Santo Daime Ayahuasca tradition. She was the lead counselor for Canada's first committe on the scientific and religious aspects of Ayahuasca in 2019 for “The Ayahuasca Traditions: Sacrament, Traditions & Science.” Kate also coordinated a steering committee called “Entheogens & Psychedelics in Canada: proposal for a new paradigm” (Rochester et al., 2022), which establishes best practices for training, credentialing, education and ethical guidelines for the crendentialing of psycehdelic therapies in Canada.
Education and Training
Kate is a graduate of Yorkville University's Counseling Program, and has an undergraduate B.A. from Edinburgh University in Scotland, with studies in Social Anthropology and French.
